Rural Workforce 2001

For the second consecutive year, eBITS was pleased to work with the Idaho Department of Labor and the Oregon Consortium & The Oregon Workforce Alliance to support the Rural Workforce Conference in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. 

eBITS worked closely with the sponsoring groups to create classes, listed below,  to meet the needs of employment professionals from throughout the Northwest.

eBITS was able to participate in the Rural Workforce 2001 Conference thanks to a grant from Qwest Communications International Inc.

Intro to Web Development: Scott Bennett
a. A look at a graphical user interface for Web design (Net Objects Fusion) .
b. Learn the fundamentals of building a Web page and managing a Web site. 
c. Create a multi-page Web site with text, images, and hyperlinks. 

3:30 - 5:00 pm 
Learn and Earn on the Web: -  Bill Mullane
a. Examine Web based educational resources. 
b. Demonstrate common Web Ecommerce tools. 
c. Build a Web store using Yahoo Store
d. Examine popular Web payment systems.

Online Tools for Conducting Surveys, Building Webs, Collaboration, and Finding Employees: - Bill Mullane and Scott Bennett
a. Examine host of Web based tools at Bravenet at www.bravenet.com 
b. See the above tools in action.
b. Examine Zoomerang at www.zoomerang.com and build a survey.
c. Examine employment Web sites.

  Manage Web Information and E-mail: Bill Mullane
a. Send, receive, reply to, and manage email and attachments.
b. Build an address book and create mailing lists.
c. Share Web information using email.

3:30 - 5:00 pm
Internet Research: Scott Bennett
a. Examine common search tools work and use them to find information. 
b. Learn how to effectively frame search criteria and utilize Boolean operators to filter search results. 
c. Practice quick search techniques. 
d. Search for and use content specific research tools. 
e. Create a Web portal that delivers customized information.
